A New Plan
This week I’m going to try and get away from my frustrations with the Nationwide Series and talk about something a bit more relevant to C2C and the design business. I apologize that my posts have been less frequent but I assure you that I am going to make sure people are aware of what’s going on with us.
I’m having a meeting with the entire design team this weekend or sometime next week to discuss some major things that will bring an incentive to teams to work with us on a regular basis. Up to this point income has been very low, if any, mainly because we hadn’t been able to think of a means to secure a line of income. After trying to figure out what everyone else is doing, it occurred to me that we never cared about what everyone else was doing when it came to doing designs – why should we limit ourselves to what “everyone else” is doing when it comes to offering our services?
We will be working on all of the details during our pow-wow, but ultimately we are looking at doing two things. One is “package” deals that can be custom-tailored to the needs of a team’s budget, whether they be in ARCA, NASCAR, or a regional series. This is nothing new to the industry but the other plan on the table is the opportunity for a team to hire an artist to do work in-house.
Perhaps it’s not an option for a lot of smaller teams to hire an artist, but based on what I have seen in the motorsports design industry, no one else is doing it. Don’t quote me on that, but I have yet to hear about a company offering “contract artists” to teams. The challenge is making it affordable to mid-range teams, and those details will be ironed out in the meeting, but as you can see, the gears have been turning.
Ever since I started C2C back in November of 2008, I’ve been trying to figure out ways to revolutionize the way the motorsports industry looks at designing paint schemes. Coming from the sim painting community, I’ve held the belief that at some point the line will be blurred between the professionals and the hobbyist designers. Granted, those who do it as a hobby may not have the same college-level education in this field as the professional designers do, but there are so many tutorials and resources available on the Internet these days that one can hardly tell a difference between the two.
I think that pretty much takes care of bringing everyone up to speed on what’s been going on lately. Once all of the details are ironed out concerning how we will offer our services, the site will be updated with the information and I will go into detail about them here on the blog.
Have a good one.

If you have been following Herd Racing’s efforts lately, you’re probably aware of the major sponsorship initiative going on with SFI Marketing and their subsidiary companies EyeEarn.com and TripleClicks. It’s great news indeed, and though I don’t know all of the details personally about the extent of their sponsorship, it does include sponsorship for the entire team and will allow them to compete in not just the NASCAR Nationwide Series… Continue Reading: Reinventing The Wheels - Branching Out
I don’t know of anyone who gets involved in a sport like NASCAR because it pays good, or you travel a lot. I think everyone who works within it has got to be a little bit of a fan. Sure, we’re asked to put aside our loyalties when we work, but every Sunday during the season, I’m willing to bet nearly all of them put on their favorite driver’s hat… Continue Reading: Reinventing the Wheels - Running On E
