As you may have noticed, MRG was down for a good part of the day yesterday and at some points inaccessible, we’re back in full force now, however and we’ve got a ton of new features to show you!
But first a recap of what’s new if you haven’t been here since Thursday (well then where were you?):
I’ve updated the main page of the site to the new Wordpress blog software, allowing much easier updates. Today I installed the “WP-United” plugin that integrates Wordpress into the forum software, allowing users to use the same account info across the whole site as well as a few other new features.

Here’s a list of things you can expect from the blog:
On Sundays I will be showcasing the featured cars for the week (A new thread will go up next week for your nominations), and a poll will be included for you to vote on your favorite one!
On Tuesdays there we will be interviewing Site Artists and updating their bios and showcasing them weekly for you guys to read.
On Thursdays our very own Driggers will provide us with his look into the life of sim painting, randomness shall ensue!
On Saturdays we will be providing updates on the newest artist showdowns and challenges going on in the forums, aswell as announcing new site artists and welcoming them to the staff!

But wait, there’s more!
Not only will the regular site news be updated, but our very own RickyLite01 will provide us with a laugh or rant as often as he wishes (:p), in the new feature “Rick’s Rants”, as well as news about upcoming site contests and updates on everything that we do :p (For instance: WallRunner is skipping sleep RIGHT NOW) (Speaking of which, we’re also now on Facebook! Search “Midnight Racing Graphics” or click here!)

Since the maintenance Friday, I’ve made it where all users should get a Wordpress account for the blog by simply signing in on the left (there are some bugs at the moment that we are trying to get fixed, so if it doesn’t work, be patient).

There are some new graphical updates, including modifications to the forum theme, in order to make it look better (my personal favorite is the drop shadow effect on the letters).

All users will be able to have their own “Mini-Blog” if I can get it set up in the next few days, and obviously the best writers get a chance to be featured on the main page!

More may be added to this post as I work on the site more :p

Update: I finally figured out the login deal, you can now login on the right using your forum username and password, and Wordpress will automatically create an account using your information! (There is still a bug with logging out, though after you hit log out your cookies are cleared and you are logged out of the site, and you aren’t shown as online anymore, even though you may get a MySQL error and think it didn’t sign you out, it did)

If you have been following Herd Racing’s efforts lately, you’re probably aware of the major sponsorship initiative going on with SFI Marketing and their subsidiary companies EyeEarn.com and TripleClicks. It’s great news indeed, and though I don’t know all of the details personally about the extent of their sponsorship, it does include sponsorship for the entire team and will allow them to compete in not just the NASCAR Nationwide Series… Continue Reading: Reinventing The Wheels - Branching Out

I don’t know of anyone who gets involved in a sport like NASCAR because it pays good, or you travel a lot. I think everyone who works within it has got to be a little bit of a fan. Sure, we’re asked to put aside our loyalties when we work, but every Sunday during the season, I’m willing to bet nearly all of them put on their favorite driver’s hat… Continue Reading: Reinventing the Wheels - Running On E

She has many nicknames, the old track built on farmland in the middle of South Carolina. “The Track Too Tough to Tame,” “The Lady in Black,” or just simply “Darlington.” As a child I remember the name being spoken with reverence, excitement, or wonder, and as I grew older and watched the many races that took place there, I had a fairly basic understanding as to why Darlington was such… Continue Reading: Reinventing the Wheels - The Lady in Black
